Artist Statement (Updated

I will paint, draw, or write my initials (my art signature) 4,999,999
times on a variety of media. [Why?] For art. To make art. To challenge
myself to complete it. I anticipate massive boredom with this project
and I want to see how I overcome this boredom. How will it show up in
the art? How will painting my signature over and over affect the
overall image? What else will I discover?
This project is visual and performance. I am signing my initials (my
art signature) over and over continuously for as long as I can. I am
mimicking the actions of a machine. Will this make me a machine?
I plan to do this work continuously for 8 hours a day; 5 days a week;
50 weeks a year; 10 to 20 years.
Exposition:
The idea for this project came about from the observation that many
people assert the opinion that the artist's signature is vital or
necessary to the artwork. My response to that assertion is: If the
artist's signature is vital, then create artworks using only
signatures.

As I create more artworks, I have discovered that I am not making
artworks with just signatures; I am also creating images with those
signatures.
In an effort to reject image, I have created image from that
rejection.
